For many food brands, packaging is about much more than the glass jar itself. Recently, we worked with a European food brand that was searching for a dependable supplier capable of delivering not only high-quality glass packaging, but also fully customized tinplate lids that complied with strict European food-contact regulations.

The customer selected our 82mm DTO tinplate twist-off lid, a popular closure widely used for foods. Its excellent sealing performance, vacuum compatibility, and reliable opening experience make it one of the most trusted closure solutions in the food packaging industry.

Although the lid appeared simple at first glance, the customization process required significant technical expertise.

The customer requested a completely customized appearance. The lid exterior was finished with a premium brown coating to match the brand’s natural product image. Instead of conventional printed graphics, the customer wanted the logo embossed into the top surface, creating a subtle three-dimensional effect that reflected the premium positioning of the brand.

Another key requirement involved the sealing compound. The customer specified a full-coverage high-temperature gasket, ensuring excellent sealing performance while maintaining stability during hot filling and pasteurization processes. Since different food products require different sealing materials, we discussed multiple gasket options with the customer, explaining the advantages of each solution before recommending the most suitable specification for their production process.

Compliance was another critical milestone throughout the project.

Because the products would be sold across the European market, every component of the lid needed to comply with EU food-contact regulations. Rather than simply stating that our products met the requirements, we provided complete third-party verification.

Working closely with an independent SGS laboratory, we arranged a comprehensive testing program covering five separate food-contact items requested by the customer. After careful evaluation, all test results successfully passed the required standards, giving the customer complete confidence in both the product and its regulatory compliance.

Throughout the development process, communication remained transparent and efficient. Every design adjustment, color confirmation, embossing detail, gasket selection, and testing requirement was reviewed together until the customer was fully satisfied.
