Background
In international trade, the stability of pallet packaging is as important as the quality of the glass bottles themselves.
Recently, a European customer reported that the pallets they received from us for their 212ml and 314ml round glass honey bottles were loose, posing a hazard during unloading and storage. While the products inside the pallets were intact, the pallet structure did not meet the customer’s expectations for safe transportation. While we ship a large volume of goods worldwide, the customer’s current plastic pallet packaging using shrink film may not be suitable due to differences in road conditions and unloading practices in different countries.
Initial Packaging Method
Initially, each pallet was secured with two PET straps, one horizontal and one vertical, combined with external shrink film. Both honey bottles were round, and due to the fixed size of the pallets, there was a slight gap between them during loading and unloading.
These gaps, due to the slight vibrations during transportation, did cause the pallet to become slightly loose. While shrink film provides basic protection against dust, rain, and insects, it does not provide structural stability. Glass bottle pallet packaging relies primarily on limited strapping for load-bearing, which is insufficient for long-distance transport.
Improvement Solution
To address this issue, Newray optimized its palletizing method. The new solution uses three PET straps each horizontally and vertically (for a total of six straps).
This significantly increases the rigidity of each pallet, minimizing the risk of jar shifting and ensuring the glass honey jars remain secure even during long transports or container movements. The heat shrink film was replaced with PVC wrap, which reduces gaps between bottles during pallet rotation and wrapping, minimizing loosening.
This ensures that the entire pallet of bottles is securely tied together, preventing them from shifting during transport.
Results
Since adopting the new pallet packaging method, shipments of 212ml and 314ml glass honey jars have demonstrated:
✅ Greater pallet integrity during overseas shipment
✅ Reduced risk of jar movement and displacement
✅ Increased customer confidence in packaging reliability
✅ Optimized export packaging, striking a balance between protection and cost-effectiveness
Why This Matters for B2B Buyers
For importers and distributors of glass honey jars, secure pallet packaging means reduced risk, fewer warehouse handling issues, and greater confidence in supply chain reliability. By improving its pallet packaging method, Newray demonstrates its commitment to continuous improvement, customer feedback, and providing export-grade packaging solutions.
